Our People
Our charity was founded on the very good nature and good intentions of people working in the trade who wanted to help colleagues and their families when they face difficult circumstances. Our people are our strength. We choose employees who understand the issues and who want to help people, and we work with some amazing volunteers to help run our operation and visit people in the trade when they need help.
Based at our head office in Ascot our Charity Services Team deliver our support services. Our Charity Services Committee members, most of who still work in the licensed drinks trade, meet with the team once each month to confidentially review requests for financial support to ensure we take a holistic approach to the support needed. The committee members have trade insight and are able to add another level of understanding of the issues facing licensed trade people.
The team
The Licensed Trade Charity team bring together a wealth of experience working in the charity sector that ensures they have the knowledge, experience, compassion and empathy ideally suited to providing advice and guidance. The team comprising Marilyn, Jola, Carolyn (Manager), Denise and Hilary say that “helping people when they are struggling to get by gives us a real sense of purpose and a great sense of achievement and accomplishment, knowing our work really does make a difference.” They are in the office from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday each week.
