Our charity was founded on the very good nature and good intentions of people working in the trade who wanted to help colleagues and their families when they face difficult circumstances. Our people are our strength. We choose employees who understand the issues and who want to help people, and we work with some amazing volunteers to help run our operation and visit people in the trade when they need help.
The Patron of the Licensed Trade Charity is H.R.H The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT
The Charity has always had a strong connection with the Royal family going back over some 177 years and we are honoured and delighted to have H.R.H. The Prince Philip as our figurehead. He recognises our volunteers for the valuable time they give to the Charity, who are privileged to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party each year.

The Licensed Trade Charity team bring together a wealth of experience working in the charity sector that ensures they have the knowledge, experience, compassion and empathy ideally suited to providing advice and guidance. The team comprising Marilyn, Kath, Carolyn (Manager), Hilary and Jola say that “helping people when they are struggling to get by gives us a real sense of purpose and a great sense of achievement and accomplishment, knowing our work really does make a difference”. They are in the office from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday each week.
