We are proud to offer access to counselling services through Relate, the UK’s leading relationship support charity. These services are available free of charge to those currently working in, or retired from, the licensed hospitality industry.
Counselling is delivered by qualified professionals via webcam or telephone, providing flexible, confidential support in a way that suits each individual or family’s needs.
Couples Counselling
Relate offers counselling for individuals or couples looking to improve communication, manage conflict, rebuild trust, or navigate difficult periods in their relationship. Common topics include:
- Shifts in the relationship dynamic
- Communication breakdown
- Infidelity or loss of trust
- Financial strain or redundancy
- Work-life balance challenges
- Parenting differences
- Separation or divorce

Children and Young People’s Counselling (Ages 5–18)
Relate provides dedicated counselling support for children and young people dealing with emotional or psychological difficulties. These sessions are designed to help young people explore feelings, develop coping strategies, and gain confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
Counselling may be beneficial for issues such as:
- Anxiety or depression
- Anger management
- Parental separation or family breakdown
- Bullying or social isolation
- Loss or bereavement
- Peer and teacher relationships
- Self-esteem concerns
Where appropriate, a counsellor may also speak with a parent or guardian before sessions begin to gather context and ensure the right support is in place.

What to Expect
- Initial Assessment
All clients begin with an initial assessment to determine if counselling is suitable and which type of support will be most effective. For couples, this includes both joint and individual discussions. - Session Format and Duration
Standard sessions last around 50 minutes. Children and young people’s sessions may be shorter, depending on age and need. - Delivery
Counselling is currently delivered remotely via phone or video call. In-person sessions may be available again in future through local Relate centres. - Confidentiality
Relate offers confidential counselling. Information is only shared if there is serious risk of harm, or a legal requirement to do so. Whenever possible, clients will be informed before any information is shared. - Ongoing Review
Counsellors will check in regularly to make sure the support continues to meet your needs.
