Volunteer with us

The Licensed Trade Charity was established over 200 years ago by people who wanted to provide support and a safety net for people from the licensed trade who find themselves in difficulty.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in the charity and what we can achieve. Whether you are looking to give something back to the community, learn new skills or meet new people, we offer two types of flexible volunteering opportunities:

As a Charity Services Volunteer you are the face of the charity. You will meet the people we currently help and those applying for help. You will offer a friendly ear whilst assessing their personal circumstances to see how the charity can help. As a Charity Services Volunteer, you will be allocated to a designated area of the country around where you live so a car is essential. Each appointment takes approximately 2 hours. The number of appointments vary each month but would be no more than 4 or 5.  Appointments take place in the home of the people we help within an agreed distance from your location.  You can download the Charity Services Volunteer role description below.

As a Volunteer Telephone Befriender you will help reduce social isolation and the feeling of loneliness by making regular phone calls. If you are a friendly and sociable person with half an hour a week you can commit to regularly, this could be the perfect role for you.

You can download the Volunteer Telephone Befriender role description below.

If you would like to have a chat about either of our roles, please give us a call on 01344 898550 or email volunteer@ltcharity.org.uk

Next steps

If you would like to become one of our volunteers, fill in the online application for the role you are interested in by clicking on the links below. We’ve tried to keep it as short as possible. It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete. As you will be working with vulnerable adults we also need to make additional checks to ensure your and their safety so we’ll need to know if you have a criminal record.
