Our Befriending Programme

Everyone gets lonely from time to time, regardless of age. If you live on your own – and you don’t have friends or family popping in from time to time– spending most or all of your time at home by yourself can make you feel cut off from the rest of the world. There’s no need to feel lonely. Our free telephone befriending service is available to anyone who has worked in the pub trade for five years or longer. So if you’d like one of our volunteers to call you for a regular chat, just give us a call.

On the other hand you may like to join our telephone befrienders and help people who may be feeling lonely by offering your support and friendship. We currently have a team of 10 befrienders who make regular calls to people all around the country, and we’d like to recruit more. If you’re interested in becoming a telephone befriender, we’d love to hear from you. Find out more about volunteering for us here. Or perhaps you know someone who might benefit from using our telephone befriending service. If so, get in touch and we’ll let you know how we can help them.

If you would like to find out more about this service for yourself or a relative, please get in touch with Kath on 01344 898550, or by emailing
