Norwich and Norfolk LVA and LTC fund help people in Norfolk

On 3rd January former members of the Norwich and Norfolk Licensed Victualler’s Association raised a fantastic £3,000 at their annual Steak & Kidney Dinner at the Unthank Arms in Norwich. The money raised will go to help people in the pub trade in Norfolk through the fund set up by the N&NLVA and the Licensed Trade Charity in early 2016 following the Association closure.

From paying for essential bills, food, heating and a bath seat to paying for rent arrears, the fund provided financial support to 15 people since its launch. It helped people like Mrs Adams aged 68, who lived in a small flat above a pub with her husband. The flat was very poorly maintained.  Due to ill health with COPD Mrs Adams had to leave her pub and was then homeless.  The Licensed Trade Charity provided support towards rent and deposit to secure a home, and £350 towards storage costs to get their existing furniture delivered to their new home.

Liz Gaffer, Director of Marketing & Charity Services, says: ‘we are delighted that the N&NLVA work lives on providing much need support to those working in, or retired from the pub trade in Norfolk helping them get back on their feet, and on with their lives again. ‘
